Friday Fiesta!

Our buddies, Kandi and Steve Hauser, were wonderful hosts at a little Friday Fiesta party last night. Kandi is some kind of cook.....love her style of just putting stuff together for a recipe and it turning out perfectly. Our menu: soft beef and chicken tacos with toppings, Mexican cornbread, Mexican rice, salsas of different varieties, Kimberly's ice cream dessert, and an assortment of fun drinks.

The girls: Michelle, Me, Kimberly, Kendra, and Kandi. Missing in action: MaryClair, Kelly, and Julia.

My kids think this looks like throw-up, but.......Kandi asked me to make some different salsas. I had never made homemade salsas except for tomato salsa. Anyway, I made a black bean/corn salsa with fresh cilantro, red bell pepper, and jalopenos which I loved. And, I made a tropical fruit salsa with mango, fresh pineapple, orange, apple, green onion and other stuff. Oh, that one was especially yummy.

I cannot believe that I have never tried this. Sangria....it is delicious, especially with an orange slice.

Thanks Kandi and Steve! Everything was perfect.....especially since these get togethers bring out the hilarious, weird, and over-the-top stories we always get to hear and participate in. Do you think we'll get a portion of the money from Michelle's book that she's gonna write? We ought to!
