First Signs of Fall!

The girls and I travelled back to Marion for Brittany's birthday. The party started at Linville Caverns and the air was crisp. Oh, my the first signs of fall - my favorite time of the year. This tree actually had more color than most. Hope it's going to be a good year for color.
This picture was taken while everyone else went into the cave. This mountain chick, as much as I love the mountains, 'ain't' goin' 700 feet under and into a mountain, I promise you that. I'm claustrophobic and the cavern walls make me weep, they're so close together. Gives me the heebie jeebies.
This is looking northward up the creek at Linville Caverns.

This is looking southward.

What kind of tree has a leaf this big? Gee Whiz, I think it was subject to growth hormones.

These are the pods, the berries or whatever they are that go along with that huge leaf. Merciful.

Go Heels! When Mom and I drove into the parking lot at Linville Caverns, Greg had his arms raised in victory mode. We thought he was just glad we finally made it. Nope, not it. More importantly, he had finished listening to the Carolina football game going up the road and they pulled out a win against Miami. Woohoo! They were behind when we left Pleaseant Gardens and made two touchdowns and won a game by the time we got there. It doesn't get better than that, especially when you watch what he had recorded and see the Miami fans in disbelief that Carolina could beat'em. Poor things. Seth was in Carolina gear as well.
Go Tarheels!
This is the birthday girl. Happy Birthday, Brittany!
Greg and Amy - aren't they cute?!?!
This is Linda - Brittany and Seth's other Nana!

My babies!

You're a great photographer and I enjoy your blog but PLEASE don't take more pictures of me. It ruins your blog! It will also break your camera. Love you.
