Fall and other stuff!

This past weekend, we went on our annual Linville hike. It was beautiful, but we missed the peak by several days. The wind had blown the leaves off the trees at the end of last week. Josh went with us, since he had never been up to NC mountains before. But, we missed Sethy....he had a soccer tournament to play in.

Brooke ran cross country this year. She has done great and runs in the top 15....out of a team of boys and girls of 70 kids.

New York!

Thomas and I got to travel as his company's guests to New York last week to see the US Open....really, not as guests, but as hosts for clients. Fun, fun trip and one I will never forget.

We had great box seats, complete with a suite filled with all kinds of food, and I mean good food, and many beverages.

Serena!! Okay....this picture disappeared, but we did get to see her play as well as D-dude. Quarterfinals day is when we were there.

This is as close as we could get to the several blocks of tightly secured area around the 9-11 site. Beautiful building. One policeman told us there were 35,000 security people working last weekend when we were there. Unbelieveable!

The beginning and the end....2011 summer

So, as school started last week, we are ending our very full and fun summer here at the Garrett home. We had kids over all the time and trips often and lake/pool dates regularly. T'was a great summer for us!

The first day of school brought out a few nerves. Camryn started her freshman year at Lake Norman High School and Brooke started her seventh grade year at Lakeshore Middle.
And, a couple of fun pics.....Josh and me trying on hats at Dick's and Brooke's pic of the paint she used to paint a stool for her room.

Both girls seem very happy. Camryn will continue to workout at the Y until track season and get back involved in youth group, and Brooke will run cross country and continue her drama classes and youth group. We're busy as bees, just like everybody else...but we are loving life.

Cherry Grove Park

Just found these pictures on Brooke's camera and I had forgotten about them. Don't know why, but this is the first year we've actually been to this little beauty......the Cherry Grove Park (and boat ramp). It is the entrance for boats to the inlet and marsh. Such a subtle and serene jewel of a place.

Cherry Grove....I just can't get enough of it.....waves splashing, sand between my toes...it doesn't get any better as far as I'm concerned. The third week of July is when we spend our family beach vacation in Cherry Grove and we love it.
