Weekend Stuff!

Had some fun stuff going on this weekend, but also had a chance to chill out a little bit.

Saturday was Brooke and her Dad's date night at church with all the other GA'S (Girls In Action). They always have a blast. This year's theme was sports-based because of the Winter Olympics. Brooke dressed as an ice skater and her Dad, the coach.

After an incredible presentation by our choir/musicians/speakers at church, today's weather kept us inside and a chance to relax. We watched The Blind Side, one of the best movies EVER. Loved it. Love Sandra Bullock. The Proposal is awesome too.

We also dyed Easter eggs.

And yes, we can make a mess.

But it was a fun mess!!!

It's Here!!

Woohoo, what a way to bring in Spring! The day has been gorgeous. Makes it hard to be inside doing anything. Grabbed a few photos of springy things on the street.

From our yard.......

From a neighbor's yard. What a beautiful sight. I always love to see our flag blowing in the breeze.
Brookie enjoyed the nice weather.
But, the great weekend started last night at Tracy's house. Kids and Moms and whoever else shows up always have a great time there. It was a St. Patrick's Day, Spring party...sort of like an After Five party since it was early evening. Awesome time!! This is me, Tracy, Christina, and Mindy.
Earlier in the week, we got to watch Cammie play softball. I just love it. My nerves don't love it, though. I, for the life of me, cannot be still when she's playing. As I've said before...once a cheerleader, always a cheerleader.

She's doing great, by the way. She was playing third base and is now playing first base some.

Cammie's Photo Shoot

So, Brooke's drama teacher requested that Cammie do a photo shoot for her also. We headed down to Davidson College campus again yesterday, just as we did for Brooke. Magen, of Magen Marie Photography, once again did an awesome job. She so easily captures the girls' personalities in every shot. Here are a few of the 200+ pictures she took on Sunday.

Here I am waiting for Cammie at one of the 'shoot' locations.Us!

Cammie's birthday party!

A little over thirteen years ago, we were living in Hillsborough (right outside of Durham and close to Chapel Hill). I had only three weeks to go before Camryn Beth's due date. It was March 6th and a very busy day teaching sixth graders, doctor's appt., and taking Thomas out for his birthday which is March 6th. We went out to eat that evening and went to bed. I was totally fine. Laid myself down on the mattress and voila...there comes the water and the contractions. Thomas told me to go back to sleep because it was too early for the baby. To make a long story short....Little Miss Camryn Beth was born that night very quickly. I was nine and a half centimeters dilated when the nurse checked me and told me there would be no drugs. Thomas had the nerve to say, "Ah, she doesn't need drugs." Okay, then...Big Boy. A few minutes later, literally, a sweet, fiesty baby girl entered this world bringing pure joy. She looked just like her Daddy. Her Pappy was there too. We were blessed that he had an office near the Capitol Building in Raleigh...so he showed up before Cammie was born. Nana and Priscilla were in Marion baking cakes or something...but in three and a half hours that it took to get to Hillsborough, Cammie had already made her way into the hearts of all of us. Pappy remembered details so well of that day, that every year on Cammie's birthday, he would wear the blue and white striped shirt that he had on at the hospital. Cammie still has it in her closet.
(That wasn't very short, was it?)

So, Friday night, we celebrated her 13th birthday with her buddies. 13 altogether.
We went to the mall to eat at Bravo! and then let the girls shop around. They also did bits and pieces of a scavenger hunt. Silly stuff like 'find someone named Bob and take a picture with him'. Okay....Bob...hmmmm...probably an older guy, beer gut, or geeky with glasses. OH NO...THIS IS BOB....
DANG....he works at Abercrombie. Cammie was too embarrassed to let Mom get a picture with him.

Brookie and her friend, Skyler enjoyed the teenage party too.

She blew out her candles at 10:00pm Friday night which set the stage for a long evening of 13 girls on a sugar high. Mercy. But it was a fun birthday party.

Happy Birthday, Cammie! We love you.

Odyssey and Birthdays!

So, this weekend promised to be incredibly full, as others are....but this one was pack jammed with Odyssey of the Mind competion at Wingate, softball, and two birthdays. Thomas turned 45 today and Cammie turns thir....thir....thir....tt...eeee....nnnnn tomorrow. Oh Lawd!! For the last three years, her party has been pushed back a weekend because of Odyssey of the Mind competition. So for the big party details, check back next weekend.

I bought Thomas' cake this year from La Patisserie when I realized we were going to have one night out of the whole week to celebrate his birthday....that was Thursday evening. His cake was chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate ganache icing. Heaven!!

Brooke's Odyssey of the Mind team did well at competition today. She was a chocolate kiss. The kids have to do everything, down to filling out the forms for the competition to making their own costumes.

THIRTEEN!

Nana and Pappy's oldest baby!
