A little over thirteen years ago, we were living in Hillsborough (right outside of Durham and close to Chapel Hill). I had only three weeks to go before Camryn Beth's due date. It was March 6th and a very busy day teaching sixth graders, doctor's appt., and taking Thomas out for his birthday which is March 6th. We went out to eat that evening and went to bed. I was totally fine. Laid myself down on the mattress and voila...there comes the water and the contractions. Thomas told me to go back to sleep because it was too early for the baby. To make a long story short....Little Miss Camryn Beth was born that night very quickly. I was nine and a half centimeters dilated when the nurse checked me and told me there would be no drugs. Thomas had the nerve to say, "Ah, she doesn't need drugs." Okay, then...Big Boy. A few minutes later, literally, a sweet, fiesty baby girl entered this world bringing pure joy. She looked just like her Daddy. Her Pappy was there too. We were blessed that he had an office near the Capitol Building in Raleigh...so he showed up before Cammie was born. Nana and Priscilla were in Marion baking cakes or something...but in three and a half hours that it took to get to Hillsborough, Cammie had already made her way into the hearts of all of us. Pappy remembered details so well of that day, that every year on Cammie's birthday, he would wear the blue and white striped shirt that he had on at the hospital. Cammie still has it in her closet.
(That wasn't very short, was it?)
So, Friday night, we celebrated her 13th birthday with her buddies. 13 altogether.
We went to the mall to eat at Bravo! and then let the girls shop around. They also did bits and pieces of a scavenger hunt. Silly stuff like 'find someone named Bob and take a picture with him'. Okay....Bob...hmmmm...probably an older guy, beer gut, or geeky with glasses. OH NO...THIS IS BOB....
DANG....he works at Abercrombie. Cammie was too embarrassed to let Mom get a picture with him.
Brookie and her friend, Skyler enjoyed the teenage party too.

She blew out her candles at 10:00pm Friday night which set the stage for a long evening of 13 girls on a sugar high. Mercy. But it was a fun birthday party.

Happy Birthday, Cammie! We love you.
