Seth and Brittany Week!

Seth and Brittany came down for several days this week, and boy, did we have fun! We bowled a couple of times. All the kids got strikes, but Brooke racked up with a total of six! I didn't get any pictures of bowling. We also went to the Huntersville Aquatics Center and not only played at the small water park, but went inside where the diving boards were and played around. This is a fairly new center and many diving (and swimming) competitions are held here - even on the national level. To watch the diving team dive from the highest of platforms is just nauseating to me. An incredible amount of talent it takes to do that, but I can barely handle watching it so closely.

Hanging out at the water park.

Taking a break with Nana and those yummy chicken strips!
Wednesday held major promise as we ventured to the lake for a day at MaryClair's place. Seth and Brittany had not spent alot of time on/in a lake so it was a new adventure for them.

Swimming and canoeing!

Jumping from the second story deck!

And, taking a ride around Lake Norman in ye ole' boat!

What a day!

Middle School Beach Camp, 2009

Just got back last night from FBC Mooresville beach camp in Garden City, SC. We had a great time, but it was so totally exhausting, I'm not even thinking straight today ( not that it's anything new). Anyway, There were a few hundred middle schoolers there, many from the Hickory area and many from the Columbia, SC area. BJ, our youth leader is great friends with all the youth directors, so they get together and plan the most awesome programs. I only have a few pictures from the trip....I was too busy to take any more. So, here they are!

On the way down. By the way, this is the small van of kids. We had forty something from our group. Oh look, they look like they have so much energy!!

BJ takes the lead.

MaryClair, my good buddy and second in command!

Mountain Dew, Coffee, Coffee, and Mountain Dew....had to have it to function.

Me, Kendra, and Kimberly.....had to have drinks with the cups from the Yum Yum shop!

Cammie's buddies. I'm thinking we had the prettiest group there. Aren't they cute?

While we were at camp, Brookie stayed with Nana in Marion. They, too had a great time. They went to the Nature Museum, wall climbed at the Y, went four wheeling on Gary's mountain, played kickball, and went swimming. That Nana sure does know how to have fun with her babies!

End of Year Stuff.....

And lots of it! I told somebody recently that May is as busy or more so than December. It's great fun, but the house, the cooking, and everything else (except working out) goes out the door! Brookie has had field day, water day, field trips, and all kinds of fun things to do. Fourth grade has incredible field trips at Lakeshore and their last one was to the mountains to Linville Caverns and Emerald Village mining. Brooke absolutely loves to look for gems and rocks and DIAMONDS! She didn't find a diamond, but lots of other stuff, including her birthstone, a sapphire!
Cammie is still playing softball and has done very well. She's had some great plays and a very loud Mama in the stands!! She's also had field day and an end-of -the year party where 60-70 kids were there.

Short-stoppin' it!

Oh yeah, I went to Cammie's party too. I was a chaperone and loved it. Cammie was afraid I'd break out and BUST A MOVE! Can we say "embarrassment"? Nah, I wouldn't...unless she asked me, of course.

Thomas was in Atlanta and Durham for the week. The girls and I decided at the last minute to go to Durham to visit family and friends for the day on Sunday.

This is Papaw! He's got some gorgeous gardens.

One of his three gardens. Some of the corn is standing close to six feet already. Early July corn if all goes well. Yay us!

First bag of potatoes. Can't wait to fix'em.

Yay us, again!!

Papaw, Brookie, Thomas, Cammie, and Uncle Bobby.

Visited friends and although we didn't get pictures at Anne's this time, we did get them at Cindy and Ken's house. Here's Cindy riding us around in 'Fred'. Poor Fred. Cindy directed our wedding 16 years ago and is still very dear to us.

Cindy, Ken, and the girls!

Thomas and his Dad fished this weekend...in farm ponds and not on the lake this time. They caught a bunch of crappy and some large mouth bass.

Whose mouth is bigger?!?! Nevermind....don't answer that!
