JAMMIN'

Jammin' wit da berries....wit, wit da berries!!!!

LOVE, love, love it when strawberries are in season. I could eat my weight in them, and probably do! I absolutely love the 'strawberry project' weekend. Several pints of strawberry freezer jam and a few quarts of strawberries to freeze for smoothies and mixed drinks. And, of course, several quarts.....I mean pints... to eat. YUM! Glad the project is over though, 'cause I gotta get out a da kitchen....enough jammin' for one weekend!!!

Christal's Visit!

Christal and her family came to our house this weekend. Randy and Ian had plans to go to the big race on Sunday and the rest of us just planned to hang out....not outside, that's for sure! Could it get any soggier? The race was finally cancelled after Ian and Randy were there for several hours and what a big disappointment for Ian that was - he didn't even get to cheer on Tony Stewart! At least they got to visit some race shops on Saturday. Meanwhile, the rest of us just played around. We went to Davidson and Birkdale Village in Huntersville. We also saw the movie, Night at the Museum, Part II. It was so funny...a little bit of Shrek humor.

Here are some pictures from the weekend, in no particular order.

Brookie and Ian playing on the computer.

Sydney and Mallory chowing down on bacon. I cooked two pounds, thinking I'd have a little left for later. Didn't realize that Mallory (brown hair) loved it sooooo much! Is that where that other pound went???

Brookie and her baby.

Sunday lunch in Birkdale at BRIXX! Yum!!!

SPLASH!

Yes, we live near Lake Norman, which is why Camryn and her softball teammates named the team "SPLASH"! Isn't that a cool name? Their colors - royal blue and lime green, of course. Well, this year is no different from the last two. The mother of the player can't seem to keep her britches in the chair seat....every girl has to be cheered for and I'm sure, without a doubt, that they would not make the plays they're making without me there.....I'm just very, very sure of it!! (KIDDING GIRLS!) The games are so much fun to watch. I never thought I'd be into it like I am!

Camryn is playing short-stop this year. She was a little apprehensive at first, but she is taking it in complete stride! She has a great arm for getting the ball to where it needs to be. She could be a great hitter too, if the pitchers were like our pitcher (Ashley - our neighbor that has been posted before) and could throw some decent balls. She gets walked alot.

Warming up in the second shot and going after a grounder in the first picture.

Gettin' ready to swing!

Concentration and anticipation!

Brookie and her buddies. She takes 3 or 4 different beanie babies to each of the games. She has become a great cheerleader....even made a sign for the last two. Macy has been to one of the games also. We'll take her again to another evening game.

Ready to roll!

Let' see....three chairs, one batting bag and glove, plenty to drink, the softball player, the cheerleader, the Daddy, the camera, and me. Let's go!!!

To: MOM

To the best of the best. I love you, Mama. Thank you.
A mother is someone to shelter and guide us,
To love us, whatever we do,
With a warm understanding and infinite patience,
And wonderful gentleness, too.

How often a mother means swift reassurance
In soothing our small, childish fears,
How tenderly mothers watch over their children
And treasure them all through the years!

The heart of a mother is full of forgiveness
For any mistake, big or small,
And generous always in helping her family
Whose needs she has placed above all.

A mother can utter a word of compassion
And make all our cares fall away,
She can brighten a home with the sound of her laughter
And make life delightful and gay.

A mother possesses incredible wisdom
And wonder insight and skill-
In each human heart is that corner
Which only a mother can fill!

Nana and her babies....from oldest to youngest.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Barger Cottage, 2009!

This was our weekend to go with the GA's (Girls In Action) mission groups to First Baptist's cottage in Ridgecrest. This is one of those weekends that we look so forward to and have so much fun....Michelle gets the prize for having the most fun!! It's only a one night deal, but with sixteen girls and eleven Moms, one night is definitely enough!!

Following are pictures on our way up Rattlesnake Mountain.

We hiked up the mountain in some rain and when we got to the top, the fog was moving in. Within just a few minutes, you couldn't even see the mountains.

After climbing the mountain, we went to the Bible Book Store on campus, did crafts, ordered pizzas, and of course enjoyed the ever so popular talent show that the girls come up with kind of at the last minute. It was so cute.

We had a great time.
